Wonder Womb
Collaborative Multimedia Installation

Title: Wonder Womb

Workshop: Mixed-Media Collaborative Installation

Date: March 7th, 2009 11am-4pm

Theme: With a focus on Woman as a wonder and as a life force, this cutting edge embodiment of a womb (Wonder Womb) was collaboratively created and abstractly executed.

Project: Participants constructed a mixed media installation embodying the womb and all of its wonders.  Individuals reflected on affinity, memory, and attraction to the womb.  They pieced together a myriad of elements both provided in the workshop and brought from home to express their kinship to the magical place of the womb.  Through the collaboration of thoughts, words, and imagery, the "Wonder Womb" was born on site and remains an installation reflecting the synergy and vision that came to life on Saturday, March 7th, 2009.

History:  "Wonder Womb" is a modern extension of a previous, mixed-media installation created by Chelsea Owens and associate, Katy Maslow at a live Babylon event in San Francisco and the Burning Man Arts Festival in 2001.

Participants: Chelsea Owens, Linda Maslow, Lara Cullins-Harpold, Julie Neil, Suzanne Warsowick, Karen Zelnick, Mary Gallagher-Stout + her lovely daughter Erin Stout, Susan Sikorski, and Ruth
