The Grind
oil on canvas
30” x 40”
2025
This painting was a much needed art therapy session following the 2024 election. In times of turmoil, creativity and solace are essential. This work took several sessions of layering colors, blending, and wiping away paint with rags in a sort of dance movement; hence action painting. It portrays the fleshy safety net of our origin of life; the womb and Mother Earth. Through the blending of lighting, color concoction, and gestural brushstrokes, this composition conveys the daily Grind across the Universe.

Exhibited: San Francisco Ferry Building & Voss Gallery Juried Exhibition Summer 2024; “Urban Tides”; a San Francisco Story. HONORABLE MENTION AWARD
Returning back to the one place I ever called home after twenty + years, The Bay Area, I dove full body/mind/& soul into the harmonious balance between a majestic landscape and alluring city. It was a long journey getting back here with my two young children, and the gratitude I have for this place is endless. I know the challenges of "staying" in a place like the San Francisco Bay Area, and we are faced with the daily challenges and hard work ethic to do so. This painting is a mixture of those emotions; the serenity from the surrounding enticing vibrant energy of "Emerald City" and its exotic landscapes combined with the cyclical patterns of life's vicissitudes. This painting was birthed out of my need to adapt to the Spring palette. Coming out of winter hibernation to the ambrosia of Spring available to all our senses is exhilarating. The color alchemy in this painting expresses exactly that;)

Emerald City MetaScape
oil on canvas
24" x 24"
2024
Having returned to the San Francisco Bay Area after 2+ decades elsewhere, I know I am home amidst a dynamic place that will forever inspire me. Living in the East Bay/Berkeley side, I find solace in climbing stairways and boulders that weave the landscape while seductively unveiling glimpses of the city of San Francisco and all its surrounding enclaves. No day is the same; nor the lighting of the sky nor the tides. I have been studying those changes through my keen artist eye lens and transferring the essence through color alchemy, form rendering, and narrative throughout many surfaces. This particular piece was painted along with several other Bay Area "themed" works and has a voice of its own. The color palette is muted, tho there are hints of light greens and blues. I call San Francisco "Emerald City" for many reasons, but the colors speak for themselves and are represented in my paintings. I'm inspired by the quick shifting of tides and the general tone and moods of the communities here in the Bay Area. There is always movement; ships, the BART, the train, the traffic, the hustle & bustle of humans in a rat race just trying to keep their heads above water and survive here; the most beautiful yet expensive place to be in California; as well the world.

Upon a teal tide
oil on canvas
16” x 20”
2024
Inspired by the ever changing San Francisco Bay Area; urban tides that ebb & flow. This artwork is my minimal approach to gestural abstract painting and interpreting my sensation of the Bay in timelessness. The cityscape is a distant geometric puzzle between moody skies and seductive waters. There's a stillness and gentle motion. A palette knife gently stroked essence of energy glowing in quindachrome magenta/pink bursts in the foreground; leaving a gentle glow in our eyes.

Abstract Expressionism
Every five years California has been facing excessive heat waves; each time record breaking. What was once decades occurs in half that time if not more. This artwork was painted during an excessive heat wave, and for the first time I experienced creating in the cool air conditioning of my 18' high cathedral ceiling art studio at the top of the Golden Quadrangle in Montecito, CA. The juxtaposition of interior and exterior contrasts while painting Heatwave Blues dramatically shifted between the acceleration of an intensely wild frenzy to the calming embrace, refreshing stillness, and ethereal calm enveloped by cooling air. This oil painting palette consists of several blues to achieve the color alchemy. It has exhibited in Berkeley at Baker & Commons on College Ave.

The Heart's Gambit

Gravity pulls; Tides' Ebb & Flow
Oil on canvas, 59” x 79”
August 2021
Inspired by the shifting of tide pools and gravitational pull of the moon and sun, resulting in the ebb and flow of ocean waters. The natural rhythm has been going long before anything else arrived.

The Surge
Oil on canvas
36” x 48”
2022
This painting was inspired by visiting Pismo Beach and its caves that are only exposed at low tide. I visited this location the day after the recent Tonga Tsunami, and there were frequent surges of the tide coming in and swiftly moving back out. During this time the caves were exposed and not covered with the ocean; allowing exploration in side. The phosphorescence of the colors inside was mind-blowing and inspired the palette of this painting in conjunction with Spring arriving.

AbstractScape Superbloom
Oil on canvas with black floater frame
18” x 22” x 1.5”
April 2023
The artist continues to explore abstractscapes in a multitude of colors; inspired by the California Springtime and "Superblooms" that occur throughout the landscape of this beautiful state after such an astounding amount of rainfall this last season. The artist is an alchemist of color and expressively fuses the vibrancy of many colors to ignite an emotional response to the artwork.

Khi ~ nē ~ Huichin : Fire~Sky~Bay ( San Francisco ) Abstractscape
oil on canvas
60" x 72"
2024
Inspired by the ever-changing skies, waters, and landscapes of the San Francisco Bay Area. The title derives from the language of the Ohlone tribes of the SF Bay Area's greater regions. Fire Sky Bay conveys the shifting of tides, skies, and lands with its dynamic movements, adaptations, emotions, and destinations. There are symbolic and psychological innuendos throughout the composition; while the allure of the city gracefully reveals itself behind the theatrical showdown of all the elements. Certain characters of the Ohlone dialect do not exist on a keyboard, however the sounds of the words naturally roll off the tongue;)

The Bezerks
oil on canvas
24” x 36”
2024
In this nocturnal tapestry, the world feels both alive and introspective; where shadows mingle with light, voices carry gentle murmurs, and characters passing through add to the vibrant portrait of urban life after dark; a reminder that in the stillness of night, connections are made, stories unfold, and we are enchanted.

Burnt Orange Nocturne No.1
oil on canvas
48” x 48”
2022
Inspired by the serenity of the Autumn palette and shifting of seasons surrounded by the California landscape. Approached with a mindfulness in minimalism and a release of expressionism through abstraction. The palette of oranges was created through color alchemy of several pigments. Feelings from viewers have ranged from states of pure relaxation and surrender to curiosity and exploration of the unknown. This painting will bring warmth to any room and shifts throughout the lighting of the day to evening.

Meet me @ Dolores Park!
oil on canvas
24” x 36” x 1.5”
2023
Inspired by the essence of gathering at Dolores Park. This is an abstraction in which impressions of people are like particles in oscillation across the dramatic urban landscape. The electrifying contrast between colors was inspired by the current human condition in a digital age; fostered by a decadent and diverse city forged with a foundation of strength and resilience.

Abstract Nocturne No.7
Oil on canvas
36” x 60”
November 2018
When the world seems to pause; caught in the delicate balance between light and darkness, we are embraced and invited to sense a time of transition and reflection.
